Social interaction is a fundamental element of human behaviour. But there are certain circumstances where it seems we often prefer separation or even isolation. On public transport, and particularly buses, there can often be sense of this personally-sought segregation-of choosing to sit on one’s own to gather thoughts or reflect, or indeed to deliberately remove ourselves from what can be regarded by some as socially award situations-invasions of personal space. The portraits in this project are a series of interpretations of these situations, individuals caught in moments of reflection as they move from A to B on everyday journeys.
